Leadership Tools for Women in a Technical Field (306388)

As women leaders in a technical field like Data Science we need to recognize the advantages we have and use them to our benefit. Collaboration and networking come easily to women and the literature backs this up. In our organization women were found to be better connected at all levels -- not just the executive level but down to the newest hires, than our male counterparts. We need to use this to our advantage.
In addition, especially in a field like data science where each of us bring different tools to the job, collaboration is critical. Traditionally women excel in collaborative scenarios more than our male counterparts.
One area for improvement is in mentoring those that come behind us. I will discuss things we have done to encourage inclusion among our data science workforce and support those groups that may be in the minority.
