Although dashboards are among the best ways of communicating and understanding the data, the procedure of choosing the best tool for data visualization is a challenging task. In this talk, four data visualization tools are chosen to build dashboards. To make comparison fair, all the tools are applied on same dataset. The tools are: R (using shiny), Python (using library dash), Tableau and PowerBI. I’ll discuss how I created these dashboards on each platform and the differences between the final products.

To create these visualizations, the UN’s World Happiness Report is used, which ranks 155 countries by their happiness levels over the years 2015-2017 and includes data related to the demographics, GDP, Government rulings and Poverty. The ultimate goal of the talk is to show how measurements of happiness/well-being can be translated to assess the progress of nations and it will be achieved by presenting several dashboards.
