Life as biostatistician in the setting of medical school is multi-faceted: from work-life balance to working load prioritization; from being a mentee to being a mentor; from a data analyst to a content expert; from methodology development to collaborative research; from being trained to teaching opportunities. Many of these aspects are never taught in graduate school and are beyond study design, data analysis and method development. As part of a team of medical researchers, she would always be in a position to learn from other investigators, who have different backgrounds and experience. Being open-minded and look beyond mountains of data, she can become a statistician-gerontologist, statistician-endocrinologist, or statistician-women’s health expert.
