I started my career in research-intensive academia, using different statistical techniques to learn about atypical language and cognitive development. I transitioned from academia into an applied setting for work that could have a more immediate impact. I currently work as a higher education administrator, using data science techniques to improve nursing education. I will share all the technical training I acquired along my windy path and how those skills apply to data science more broadly. Additionally, I will share insights from my rapid career progression and what I have learned about how to get ahead. Finally, I will share what I have learned about managing people, including my experience as a female manager of female staff.
