Demography is “the study of the size, territorial distribution, and composition of population, changes therein, and the components of such changes.” This research examines the effect of high fertility youth populations on violent extremist activity in Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Somalia, Iran, Iraq and Pakistan from 1970 to 2015. This approach goes against conventional analysis in the fight against terrorism. It attempts to analyze the problem from the inside looking out, advancing the use of data science in social science research to validate and support analysis and decision making.
