Though complaining about p-values might feel like an old pastime, the ASA issued its first official p-value policy statement in June 2016. Upon outlining the common misuse of the p-value, the ASA offers a list of alternative practices that include Bayesian methods. Motivated by the ASA's statement, I'll discuss my Bayesian path as a researcher in Markov chain Monte Carlo methods and an educator at an undergraduate liberal arts college.
