The ASA Statement on P-values and Statistical Significance cautions against misuse of p-values and the avoidance of bright-line thinking with respect to their use. Nonetheless, significance testing remains a key and powerful tool for statistical inference, and it is worth noting that bright-line thinking and some other common errors related to the use of p-values can also occur with the use of other methods of inference. This session will focus on areas of inference in which p-values are particularly appropriate.
