I will discuss some general issues in the application of Data Science to public health and biomedicine, and cover some specific examples in my own collaborative work at Stanford, including a project involving the prediction of platelet usage at Stanford Hospital.
Finally, I will discuss some recent advances in supervised learning including LassoNet (a feature sparse Neural Net), Lasso and elastic net for GWAS and Contrast trees and boosting (J. Friedman).
