A Year-Long Writing-Intensive Capstone in Statistics (308120)

The Capstone course in the Statistics major at the University of Georgia (UGA) is formally affiliated with the university's Writing Intensive Program. It also checks off other boxes (e.g., Service Learning, Experiential Learning) though these are not yet formalized in UGA’s curriculum. Taught continuously since 2007-08, the course has grown about five-fold. We present a little of its history, how we currently run it, and what we’ve learned (what works, what doesn’t work) over 13 years of teaching it.
