JMP and SAS – Alone, Together, and with Open-Source Software – for Teaching and Doing Data Science (308103)

JMP is phenomenal software for exploration and visualization of data and models and a fantastic tool for teaching best practices, methods, and model building techniques, and for deploying models in the gigabytes-large data world. SAS is powerful software for advanced machine learning and AI methods, that can be applied at any scale. R and Python are flexible open-source packages that often contain the newest methods (as contributed packages), but these methods and packages are not necessarily tested or performing as claimed, nor are they adopted in many business settings due to their open source code. Using proprietary commercial software – for the speed, ease-of-use, visualizations, power, trustworthiness, and security -- alone and in conjunction with cutting-edge R and Python packages, can help your students learn more and do more in data science. We will explore some examples of the power of JMP+SAS+R+Python in this session.
