The field of data science is often described as a blend of statistics and computer science. It is thus not surprising that two of the most common language tools in the field are R (from the statistics world) and Python (popular in computer science). But how do these two stack up against each other? This talk will compare the two from a data science point of view, in terms of learning curve, library availability, machine learning applications, parallel computation, C/C++ interface, object orientation and so on.
