The increase of urban analytics to address challenges faced by large urban communities is in step with the upswing and the use of statistics and data science methods in general. In this talk, I will explore a partnership between universities, local government and NGOs to create the Houston area Urban Data Platform (UDP). The UDP supports data driven solutions for the larger community. I will also address methodological advances in statistics that further the goals of this strong partnership.
