PS45: Preparing the Next Generation: Career Development of Young Statisticians in the AI-Transformed Health Industry

The role of statisticians in the health industry has undergone dramatic transformation, expanding from traditional clinical trial analysts to strategic leaders leveraging artificial intelligence across the entire circle of health product development. Nowadays, statisticians' responsibilities have extended far beyond their traditional academic training, e.g., they are navigating AI-driven therapeutic and diagnostic medical device development, transforming large scale digital health data to real-world evidence, etc. We plan to invite speakers and panelists (e.g., FDA, Amgen, The George Washington University) to discuss the critical challenges and opportunities that early career statisticians are facing as AI fundamentally reshapes the health industry job market. The panel discussion may include the following questions:  How is AI transforming the pharmaceutical statistics job market? Is it creating new roles while evolving traditional positions?  Is it a competitive landscape? Which statistical skills remain irreplaceable, and which needs collaboration with AI experts?  What are actionable strategies for early career professionals to thrive in an AI-integrated pharmaceutical ecosystem?
