About this session

The ggplot2 package has fundamentally transformed data visualization in R by giving users the tools to create customized graphs according to a consistent underlying grammar. Furthermore, ggplot2 was intentionally designed to give outside developers the capability of adding on to ggplot2's core functionality through extension packages. As a result a rich ecosystem of additional packages has emerged that extend ggplot2 in both expected and unexpected ways. This panel brings together experts to examine the evolution, current landscape, and future trajectory of ggplot2 extensions.
