CANCELED: Becoming a Statistics JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion)

Making the statistical sciences community a productive environment where all members can thrive requires all of us to understand why and how to bring about improvements in justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) in our workplaces. We can then become JEDI resources in our departments, institutions, disciplines, and in other settings. This Professional Development course will interactively explore topics related to JEDI including (1) identifying the spaces and contexts where JEDI issues arise: (2) diving deeply into the necessity and viability of attending to JEDI issues in these spaces and contexts; (3) examining promising and successful policies, practices, and programs or their components that foster diversity and inclusion; (4) identifying challenges to making progress in JEDI; (5) exploring examples of successful initiatives; and (6) action planning. The ultimate goals of this course are for participants to emerge with a clearer understanding of ways that JEDI plays a role in their professional and other environments, and to identify concrete actions they can take to work toward their JEDI goals.
