CE_33P: Preparing Statisticians and Data Scientists for Leadership: Influencing People and Projects - Part II of Two-Part Course (Added Fee)

What is leadership and how can statisticians & data scientists effectively lead? Much has been written and discussed within the statistics profession on this topic and its importance in advancing our profession. This interactive course provides a foundational understanding of leadership, and guidance on how statisticians and data scientists can improve and demonstrate leadership to deliver value to their organizations. The course will focus primarily on the topics of (1) communication, with a focus on persuasive communication, speaking with impact, and data storytelling; (2) trust, with an emphasis on building trust and the role trust plays in collaboration and influence; and (3) business acumen, with attention given to its importance in having influence and creating positive change in an organization. Course participants will learn through a combination of lectures, stories, discussions, exercises, and personal reflection, and will leave with specific action plans to improve and apply leadership skills.
