Abstract:

The Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS) is EIA’s flagship national sample survey on the stock of U.S. commercial buildings, including their energy-related building characteristics and energy usage data, and is the only nationally representative source of this information. In this talk we will discuss how collection of energy usage data has changed over the history of CBECS. We will present results from the most recent 2018 CBECS, for which we collected energy usage data from both energy suppliers and building respondents, and discuss how this may inform plans for the future.
