This session will cover various aspects of building a new data science program at different types of institutions, including two-year colleges, liberal arts colleges, and larger public state universities. Discussion will include curriculum considerations as well as the logistics of coordinating a new data science program that may rely on courses in other disciplines or partnerships with industry. Each panelist has been involved with constructing and/or sustaining data science programs at their home institutions. Each panelist will address their role in the program development process (minor or major or graduate), the unique challenges their program faced and may continue to face, and any advice for educators looking to build a program at their own institution.
