Abstract:
|
I will report analysis results of surveys we have conducted through an NSF-awarded project (LaCuKnos) aiming to understand the roles of language and culture in STEM education and support students—especially multilingual students—through afterschool club activities. The project is ongoing. For the first stage, we have collected baseline data on whether students perceive language barriers in their STEM learning. We want to investigate how different club activities are used by teachers and whether they help improve students’ performance and communication in STEM subjects.
