Abstract #322525
Title: Mapping the Genetic-Imaging-Clinical Pathways for Neuropsychiatric and Neurodegenerative Diseases.
Author(s): Hongtu Zhu*
Companies: University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Keywords: imaging; genetic; clinical and environmental variables; biological pathways; biobank data; brain-related diseases
Abstract:

Many large-scale biomedical studies, such as the UK Biobank (UKB) study and the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Developmental study, have collected/are collecting massive multi-modal imaging data with high spatial and/or temporal resolution as well as other complex biological data (e.g., {{biochemistry markers, genetics/genomics data}}), health records, and cognitive information. Jointly analyzing multi-type data from these large-scale studies will provide insights into the biological process of brain development, healthy aging, and disease progress, but the development of analytical methods for such integration has fallen seriously behind technological advances. It requests the development of efficient and scalable analytical methods for mapping the biological pathway starting from genetic, imaging, to clinical data (Genetic-Imaging-Clinical or GIC) to meet this critical and important need.
