Abstract:

Statistics are often the crux of research projects. Collaborative statisticians are in high demand as projects require statistical support from project conception to data analysis to manuscript or report writing. It is of utmost importance that statisticians have a good working relationship with their collaborators. Further, they must be able to communicate well, both in project discussions and in explaining statistical concepts and results. This panel session will focus on the challenges, successes and innovations in collaborative research statisticians face, and represent perspectives from women in statistics in academia, industry, and government. They will use examples from their careers and projects to share best practices, lessons learned, helpful tools, and cautionary tales. The insights offered will be most applicable to students, early- and mid-career statisticians, and members of interdisciplinary teams. Come learn how these statisticians leverage their technical knowledge and soft skills to advance knowledge across many domains!
