Abstract

Even before the world-wide pandemic, training a small and disparate population of international statisticians and economists to use a highly specialized software was a difficult task. When the seasonal adjustment program X13-ARIMA-SEATS was released by the U.S. Census Bureau, we knew we needed to add the model-based adjustments from SEATS to our already existing seasonal adjustment course. We decided to take this opportunity to develop training that could reach a wider audience. Therefore, we designed an online course that includes audio lectures with visual components that will work in any online environment and hands-on-computer exercises that work for any system that can run X13-ARIMA-SEATS. We will demonstrate our course layout, topics, and some of its best learning features.
