Abstract:
|
How can we Be Human in Statistics and Data Science? What can we do to build more collaborative, equitable, and inclusive learning communities in our Statistics and Data Science (SDS) classrooms, as well as in the related programs? What kind of professional skills should or could we teach or integrate in our classrooms and programs to empower our next-generation students and help them move forward with their unique combinations of strengths and identities? Our panelists with diverse lived experiences and perspectives will share their innovative humanistic approaches in pedagogies or curriculum developments. The panel will also discuss potential challenges and opportunities for incorporating those approaches and will engage the attendees in a conversation on how we make progress on fostering more humanity in our teaching and local communities.
