Abstract:

2021 will be remembered as the year the world struck back and came together to defeat a common enemy: how researchers moved from their field of expertise to focus on COVID-19, how people helped each other, and how healthcare workers put their lives at risk to save others. Vaccine efforts will have saved an enormous number of lives and will help us combat the next epidemic or virus. But this year will remind us of the real and present danger of misinformation. And although we may have defeated the virus, misinformation will still be there, and so far, this only continues to get worse. In the end, this virus has shown the best and worst capabilities of humankind. In this talk I will focus on showing some of our efforts and lessons learned from this pandemic.
