The paper will discuss findings from the statistical analysis of defects detected by either visual or ultrasound inspection of railways segments. The interest will be not only in the detection of defects but also on the assessment of the quality of the inspection, as well as the reliability of the different railways segments. Different models will be considered, including a zero inflated Poisson one.
