In this session we will honor the life and legacy of Marshall Joffe, MD, PhD who passed away on October 5, 2021. Dr. Joffe is remembered by many in our community, nationally and internationally for his groundbreaking work in causal inference and as a warm and generous collaborator, teacher, and mentor.
Dr. Joffe, Professor of Biostatistics at the University of Pennsylvania, is internationally recognized for his development of both novel statistical methods and foundational concepts in causal inference. His work spanned theoretical, methodological, and applied research and has had an immense impact across numerous scientific disciplines.
Dr. Joffe was one of the founding members of the Penn Causal Inference working group which ultimately led to the formation of the Center for Causal Inference. He was an accomplished teacher and mentor to both students and faculty and a Fellow of the American Statistical Association.
This session will celebrate his many contributions to our field. The five speakers are colleagues, collaborators, and mentees.
