Cliff's biography describes numerous areas in which he made substantial contributions: Physics (Nuclear Safeguards), Biology, Chemistry, Transportation, Medicine, Criminal Justice, as well as basic statistical methodology. His passion for statistics, and in working tirelessly for the causes of justice and human rights, came through in all his work. My collaborations with Cliff span 30 years, from 1980 at National Bureau of Standards Statistical Engineering Division under Division Chief H.H. Ku, to his dedicated efforts to reform Forensic Science. I will focus on his work primarily at NBS (now NIST), chemometrics, and forensic science, and end with some personal stories of our interactions.
