Title: Spatial-Temporal Statistical Modeling in Support of Urban Resiliency
Author(s): Katherine Ensor*

Keywords: space-time; urban analytics
Abstract:

Urban analytics describes a subarea of statistics that includes partnering with local governments, NGO’s and community organizations to address key concerns and questions with data driven answers. Through urban analytics, statisticians play a key role in building resilient and sustainable cities. At the core of statistical analyses needed in this subarea, are methods for data assimilation and expert answers through spatial-temporal modeling at a small spatial scale. We will explore this area, the needed partnerships and the statistical advances that lead to improved planning with respect to flooding and large environmental events. Credible inference and answers to the questions needed by city officials and health officials are central to our discussion.
