The multitude of approaches to the increasingly important problem of securing official statistics data against disclosure and assuring privacy while expanding the possibilities of using them, raises the need to address issues and challenges on a wider scope than is typically made with focus on country-specific needs and policies. The purpose of this presentation is the conceptual and methodological systematization of issues and approaches reported in studies of selected countries, as well as of international organizations and agencies. Traditional approaches to data disclosure focuses on relationships between three types of participants of statistical processes - data provider, producer and user. However, increasing dependence between holders of data from various sources that are combined in a way for the analytical purposes requires inter-institutional and international reinterpretation of existing as well as new principles and methods. In summary, therefore, a sketch of research agenda is proposed to address such issues in the comprehensive way, on the world-wide scope, including lessons learned from the other projects, within an innovative methodological framework.
