As the purpose of social surveys increases, the length of the questionnaire becomes longer and longer, resulting in an increase in the rate of non-response and an impact on accuracy and speed of investigation, resulting in a decrease in cost efficiency. One way to solve this problem is to use the split questionnaire design, which is an emerging tool to improve the efficiency of complex surveys, and has a significant role in reducing the burden on respondents and improving the quality of responses. This paper analyzes the progress of the split questionnaire method in detail, systematically discusses the split mode and mode selection, and describes and deduces the specific parameter estimation in combination with the application scenario. Finally, corresponding suggestions for the application scenarios of questionnaire segmentation are put forward.
