Abstract:

Statisticians play an important role in many soft money environments (e.g. academic medical centers, nonprofit organizations, research institutions, etc.). As opposed to hard money, soft money refers to positions where the funding source is mostly based on external grants and contracts. In this roundtable, we will discuss the pros/cons of soft money environments and share strategies and skills for navigating soft money environments including how to build fruitful collaborations and how to develop strong grant writing skills.
