Abstract:

The recent technology revolution in data and AI motivates data related education in higher education, including business schools. Many analytics or data science programs were established in recent 5 years. Many schools are considering opening their own analytics or data science majors/minors in the near future. However, are these programs meet the industry demand? What skills are the mostly demanded in certain area for certain industry? Should R or Python programming be required? In this study, we collected all the current data analytics, business analytics and data science programs for both undergrad and graduate levels in AASCB accredited institutions in US, and job ads across all states in April 2020 from indeed. We will also analyze and compare the demand side and supply side to discuss the opportunities and challenges in higher education market for data related programs.
