As data-driven practices in an organization evolve and mature and more analysts, data scientists, and other power users join the ranks, much benefit can be drawn from creating a formal Community of Practice. A purpose of such community is to regularly bring together data professionals from across the organization to share knowledge and best practices in the field of data science. A well-run Community of Practice fosters professional development, education, and networking through events, resources, mentoring, and other initiatives. However, what does it take to establish a community at an institution or a company? At the roundtable we will share experiences and brainstorm ideas on ways to build Communities of Practice with focus on data science: from creating a momentum to successfully maintaining it and keeping members engaged. We will also discuss how to form an effective leadership team to ensure that the community lasts and thrives.
