Causal inference methods, such as propensity score methods and instrumental variables, are becoming nearly ubiquitous in their applications across many areas of clinical research. Providing effective training to researchers, especially non-statisticians, however, remains challenging with substantial disagreement on who should learn what, and the optimal level of mathematical rigor. This roundtable will discuss relevant collaborative and educational experiences and available resources, including some tools developed by our group, and ways to train non-statisticians in a way that encourages rather than replacing collaboration with statisticians.
