Abstract:

In "Moving to a World Beyond 'p < 0.05'" (TAS 2019) we introduce tangible ideas of what to do about the very hard problem of separating signal from noise in data and making decisions under uncertainty. We summarized our recommendations in two sentences totaling seven words: “Accept uncertainty. Be thoughtful, open, and modest.” Remember “ATOM.” In this talk I will outline ways to integrate this recommendation into a modern introductory statistics course.
