Title: One Hundred Years of Geometry
Author(s): Bradley Efron*
Companies: Stanford University
Keywords: C.R. Rao; Post-war statistical thinking; Fisherian

1920 was the year Fisher began his historic push to put statistical estimation on a firm basis. It was also the launching year for Professor Rao. Rao is arguably the premier Fisherian statistician of this era. Like Fisher, Rao has used deep geometric arguments in the pursuit of mathematical inference. His work has greatly influenced post-war statistical thinking and post-war statisticians, including me. The talk consists of some examples.

Authors who are presenting talks have a * after their name.
