Abstract:
|
As National Statistical Offices increasingly their use new data sources to a much larger scale than before, the importance of producing quality official statistics clearly remains. However, this must continue to be done in a way that maintains privacy protection and adapts to new types of data and new levels of data sensitivity. This paper uses a broad administrative data framework and considers privacy aspects that need to be taken into account to achieve an equilibrium that is both statistically sound and socially acceptable. The approach is illustrated by the Canadian experience.
