In late 1970’s western countries realized that the majority of new jobs are not created by big corporations but by entrepreneurs. New policies have been adopted by nations, states, cities, and universities to inspire and support entrepreneurs to stimulate economic growth. According to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2018 report, the United States has the highest proportion of entrepreneurship job creation opportunities in the world. Individual factors (attitudes) and environmental factors (organizational, institutional and social) are critical to entrepreneurial success. There are few entrepreneurial studies in the literature focused on the textile and apparel industries. This research has concentrated on understanding the entrepreneurship environmental success factors in these industries. The focus has been on the United States and primarily on North Carolina as one of the leading states for these industries. Data for all the textiles and apparel manufacturing sections has been collected from the NC department of Commerce, and been used in our research to identify clusters of entrepreneurs in these industries.
