Abstract:

With rapid advances in computational techniques, predictive modeling with large databases is promising new insights into patient-centric drug development. Machine and deep learning methods are proving highly effective. In neuroscience clinical research, for example, predicting relapse events and hospital re-admissions including length of stay in schizophrenic patients are key to establish treatment effectiveness. We discuss prediction models in a setting where electronic patient level records are collected using digital health technology and associated graphical techniques relevant to visualization of short as well as long term trends and patterns in the underlying data.
