Abstract:

Satellite imagery data comes with a host of difficulties. In particular, frequent outliers and long stretches of missing data pose a significant challenge to time series analysis. Bayesian dynamic linear models (West & Harrison) meet this challenge with a suite of features, including robust handling of outliers and missing data. Further, these models offer dynamic mean, trend, and seasonality estimation, all with statistically rigorous confidence bands.
