Abstract:

Data collected from multi-environment plant-breeding field trials are often statistically analyzed with mixed models, the results of which can be difficult to understand. This paper presents a collection of simple graphical techniques to help consumers of statistical analyses develop an intuitive understanding of mixed models for multi-environment trials. Graphics are given to explain fixed effects, random effects, random interactions, and correlated residuals.
