Abstract:

It can be overwhelming to stay abreast of the latest statistical software trends and standards, especially as a busy collaborative statistician. However, it’s clear that learning these skills can have implications for broadening the reach of your methodological and collaborative research and can help you connect with students and researchers from many fields. I will share experiences and give tips on how to learn new software languages and tools, and will discuss why it’s important to not be left behind as the statistics field embraces more advanced programming and data science skills.
