Abstract:
|
A straightforward extension of nonparametric confidence and tolerance interval methods is applied to construct a test for the comparison between the same quantile of two distinct populations. Type I and Type II errors are compared between this method and previous methods for various underlying distributions. In addition, efficiency comparisons against the test’s parametric counterparts are exhibited for a few common distributions. Lastly, an application is demonstrated using timber strength property data from two distinct industry-wide inspections of the same species performed at different times.
