Abstract:
|
The traditional ROC curve depicts the sensitivity versus 1-specificity over a set of thresholds. A global scalar summary of this curve is given by the area under the ROC curve (AUC). In the context of time-dependent ROC curve methods, we are interested in global scalar measures that summarize sequences of time-dependent AUCs over time. Suitable candidates for that purpose are concordance probabilities which are measures of the predictive accuracy of a marker for an event, which occurs at random times and may be right censored. We review various notions of time dependent sensitivity and specificity and investigate the connection between these notions and different concordance measures. We explore the relationship between such measures and their corresponding AUC, and present an application.
