Title: Combining Information to Assess the Reliability of Complex Systems
Author(s): Alyson Wilson*

Keywords: reliability; Bayesian; reliability growth; assurance testing
Abstract:

When making acquisition decisions for Department of Defense systems, one key factor is the reliability of the system. However, new systems are often complex, and they can seldom be robustly tested under every possible environment and mission condition. Fully characterizing the system requires integrating information from many sources, including similar systems, prior testing, computer models, and expert judgment. This talk will introduce an approach for combining information using Bayesian hierarchical models.
