Abstract:

Interval data are seen in different fields such as in economics or health related data. Visualization is the common first step when deciding the relationship between two variables. Similar to the scatter plot for point-value data, the rectangle plot and cross plot are the traditional visualization methods. Since the traditional methods have some drawbacks, we propose two visualization methods. Instead of using the variables as the coordinates, we propose to use the center and range of the intervals as coordinates. The new approaches compensate the existing visualization method and provides more information.
