Abstract:

Collaboration is essential in our profession. Representing diverse segments of our profession, career levels, and geographic areas, each panelist will contribute their unique collaboration experiences in this discussion. They will describe their initial challenges, the concrete steps they took toward implementation, and finally, the tangible rewards. Some of the specifics will include finding funding for collaborations, engaging mentors, spanning cultural boundaries, strategies to encourage collaboration throughout the organization, and negotiating among stakeholders with disparate interests. Audience discussion will be a critical component, especially in exploring ways to overcome certain challenges. Aligned with the theme for JSM 2019, each panelist will highlight the ways their collaborations resulted in a beneficial impact at the organizational level and beyond.
