Statisticians and data scientists often have the opportunity to collaborate with domain experts from many different fields in academia, business, and government. Implementing more effective collaboration skills is an essential component to enabling us to maximize our professional impact.
In this talk I will introduce the ASCCR framework for collaboration useful for guiding and improving collaborations with domain experts. The ASCCR framework describes current best practices in five aspects of statistical consulting and collaboration -- Attitude-Structure-Content-Communication-Relationship.
Specifically, I will highlight how to:
•establish foundational Attitudes that lead to more effective collaborations •implement the POWER Structure for conducting effective meetings •apply the Q1Q2Q3 approach to the Content of statistical consultations and collaborations •communicate more effectively with non-statisticians, using the Triangle of Statistical Communication, and •adopt practical strategies to strengthen Relationships with domain experts.
By understanding and using these essential ASCCR practices statisticians can improve the quality of their professional collaborations.
