Abstract:

This session brings together distinguished statisticians at the frontiers of interdisciplinary research and leadership to discuss how statisticians can make an impact in the real world. Through their experience, they will explain how to find opportunities and resources, how to organize teams, how to cultivate a fair collaborative culture, how to train students/postdocs, and, most importantly, how to lead interdisciplinary organizations that vary in size from institutes/colleges to research centers and to research groups. Last but not least, they will assess where we are as a community regarding making impacts in the data science era and they will make recommendations on how to move forward most effectively.
