Abstract:

Dr. Joseph Hilbe was a prolific author who wrote award-winning books on statistical theory, software, astrostatistics, and philosophy. In this talk, I will discuss my collaboration with Dr. Hilbe on our monograph on quasi-least squares regression. I will also describe some of the impact of his work, especially with respect to the development of new methods for the analysis of discrete data. I will further touch on some of his other interests, including his advocacy for animals, which distinguished Dr. Joseph Hilbe as an outstanding author, scientist, and human being.
